Chickadee (formerly Patricia)

A lot like her dad was as a pup - tall and muscular, sleek coat, and full of energy! She is so strong! One thing, though, she is pleasantly quieter than her dad, though. Probably the quietest of all the puppies. Striking black and white coat and her fur is as soft as velvet. She weighed in at  47.5 lbs at 14 weeks old!

WEEK ONE
:  The first week has gone very well. Can't believe it's a week already. All the puppies are doing great! Their weights range from 1 1/2 pounds to 2 1/2 pounds a piece. Everyone is gaining well, so they're eating  and growing like they should. Their colors have changed already. Lots more white markings are appearing on each puppy. Almost all the puppies have an undercoat color that is different colored than their top coat color. (Patty is solid black on her back right down to the roots!

WEEK TWO: Lots of changes have taken place during the second week. Everybody has their eyes open now. They're all walking around, but it is very wobbly walking! A few have even found their voices... No longer just cooing and small wimpers. No way - now it's howling and squeals randomly throughout the day and night. Two of the pups seem to be taking after their dad, who I was told when I chose him, "He's quite a talker..." Nice way to put that he's rather noisy!

WEEK THREE:  Wow!! Have they changed from last week! The puppies are all walking around well now. They play and wrestle with each other. They come running to you when you enter the puppy playpen. They absolutely love the kids! They come running and climb right into any available lap! They've also found their voices. All 9 of them. It's cute when they lift their heads to howl, as long as it's during the day...

WEEK FOUR
: Lots of big changes - again! Another week has flown by. Everyone is loving the puppy food and growing by leaps and bounds. Lots more playing, too. They love having stuffed animals to chew on and play tug-of-war with their blankets! Twice within this past week we've come home to find that they've escaped their playpen! Just like their dad, I guess. Their fur is really changing. Some look like little bear cubs and some look a little like a sheep, but we're still waiting to see who is actually a woolly and who has a smooth coat. Also waiting to label their colors as they are still changing.  They are all very sociable, happy babies. They aren't too fond of the vacuum cleaner, though!

WEEK FIVE: I can't believe that these guys are 5 weeks old already! And once again, I find myself saying that there have been amazing changes this past week. First trips outside (went over VERY well - They love it!!!), first baths (didn't go over as well as outside. Some like it, most don't.) and they're still growing at an unbelievable rate. They are totally on puppy food, right out of the bag now. They eat about 6 pounds of puppy food every day between the 9 of them! Wow!

WEEK SIX: These guys are eating machines! We have started potty training and it's going REALLY well!! I'm ecstatic! Buck was the first to go to the kitchen and whine at the door. Pokey is really good about that, almost no accidents from that little dude. I go to the door and call and all 9 come running like a stampede! They are all loving it outside and take many trips out during the day to run and roll around with each other. Here is something I guess I forgot to tell them, just some words to the wise: DON'T LICK THE SHOVELS OUTSIDE. Another tip: don't run at the door unless it is open. It's slippery in Minnesota in the winter.

The pups LOVE the kids and climb all over you if you sit on the floor with them. They're chewing things and carrying things around. Playing tug of war with socks or mittens they find... Starting to get into some trouble, like chewing homework binders, and chewing the ties off boots, but maybe those things should've been put away like Mom said... So who is really to blame?

WEEK SEVEN:  Wow. It's been a busy week here. They're learning how to escape, climb stairs, get on furniture and CHEW. Everything, anything. One day when I came home, there were Rice Krispies everywhere. They'd gotten into the pantry and helped themselves to the cereal and a few juice boxes, too. Seems like I'm always one step behind them. Next week I think I'll play offense instead.

These guys are going through about 10 pounds of puppy food per day. They're spending lots of time outdoors and they love it! We've been consistent with the house training and it's going really well. We stand at the door and make squeaky noises and all 9 come running. It's hilarious. But, it works and there are very few accidents indoors now. We can get all 9 from a dead sleep to out-the-door in about 4 seconds. Amazing! I love it when they're sleeping. They're so cute. No one uses the dog beds any more, so there are little fuzzy bodies laying everywhere at naptime!

VET TRIP: February 21, 2011 Everybody is healthy and growing well. They've all had their first shots and checked over and they will all be able to go to their new homes starting on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. We piled everyone of the pups into our car and made the 30 mile trip to the vet and I heard from the backseat that this may have been the worst idea I've ever had. But, we all survived and are home and happy now! Check below for a few new pictures and updated weights as per my vet's scale today... I'll get new pics of everyone by Wednesday, so if the pup you've been watching isn't updated yet, he will be soon! (Weights are from today, 2/21/11 though)

- ALSO, be sure to check back on Wednesday afternoon (or early evening) to see status changes about puppies on hold. There will be updates at that time.

WEEK EIGHT: (02-23-11 - Wednesday) Everyone is happy, healthy, and growing tremendously. They eat like little horses. (We're feeing ProPlan for large breed puppies - if anyone was wondering.) They are chewing everything (still) but now it's much more intense. They especially love paper products, including wood, so watch your books, cereal boxes, furniture, chair legs, cabinets, just watch everything! They're thorough. They get tons of outside time and are venturing farther and farther if allowed. They're getting very curious about everything around them in their little world here. It's harder to supervise their intake outside, but equally important. They'll eat anything!

Blaze has been the first puppy to move to his new home!  Several more over the next few days. Bittersweet. I've added another page which narrows down which puppies are not yet spoken for. Seems easier to see, but I had requests not to delete this page with everyone's baby pictures and everybody, so here it is still:

WEEK NINE:  One puppy left on Tuesday and two more are leaving Saturday. Even though the population is dwindling, we're buying just as much puppy food as ever! Just as fast as some move on to bigger and better things, the rest are growing so fast that our house seems just as full as ever! These guys are SO active and busy! You really have to watch them closely because they just love to chew, chew, chew! I can't believe how fast a 9 week old puppy can be. Never would have guessed.

Patty and Mauer are still waiting for great homes. Patty is a big, strong girl. She has very sturdy, thick legs and her fur is so soft!  She's an awesome dog with lots of energy! Mauer is also a great dog. He's HUGE! He's tall and strong and SO fluffy. He finally learned to hold both ears up at the same time and it looks awesome - a huge woolly pup with tall, proud ears! He has beautiful markings with dark outlines to his features - and he's just hilarious! Very animated.

WEEK TEN: We're down to only three puppies now. Two are still available for new, loving homes immediately. Check out the "Puppies Still Available" page tab above.  Best wishes to all the new families with their new puppies. Thank you for the updates, too. We love hearing about the puppies new homes and how things are going. Feel free to send pictures, too, so we can update this page! We have a HUGE following!
